Exercise as a Metaphor for Life!
Exercise as a Metaphor for Life!
Whew! - Having begun an exercise program over the past month - I have learned the following things:
1 - It's all about process and incremental steps, I can't always be looking for instant gratification. However, there is major gratification in the journey.
2 - Sometimes a hefty investment is what is needed to stay with something that doesn't seem easy in the first place. Sometimes ease and grace comes after major effort and just because there isn't ease and grace in the first place, doesn't mean it isn't worth doing or that I'm doing it wrong.
3 - Doing the best I can really is good enough, as long as it really is the best I can do at that moment. This is the way to get better at anything.
4 - New things are easier to learn and do when I enlist support, guidance and encouragement from others.
5 - I feel so much better when I take care of myself with as much care and concern as I take care of those around me. I really am better at caring for and about others when I take the time to be with and care for myself.
It's amazing what a little exercise can teach about life!
Exercise and proper diet have been shown to have the single biggest positive effects on long term health and well-being. What are you waiting for?
