Seeing people with God's eyes
Remember all the things that were said about blacks during the civil rights movement? Remember all the things that were said about women during the suffragette movement? Remember all the things that were said about the Chinese during the laying of the railroads and the Irish during the great mining era, and the Catholics during the settling of our country and the Jews during World War II? Remember the biblical and scientific and political and cultural evidence that was cited to perpetrate this nonsense?
Can we not see the pattern in the things that are said about Gays or Muslims or any other group that someone doesn't like or fears? We can not use religious, scriptural, cultural, scientific or political reasons to separate or limit the life and possibility of any one person or any group of people.
Every person is unique and precious in the eyes of Love. Every way of being is an incarnation of Life. Every being is the spark of the Divine fanned into an individual flame! Every life is to be lifted, celebrated and furthered, so that each person can give their unique gift and presence to support the health and prosperity of the whole!
Now there's a new kid on the block. High profile Fox network personalities and Rush Limbaugh claim that being liberal is a birth defect, based on one study that indicated liberals have an extra gene. . .
1 year agoIt doesn't occur to them that the lack of that gene could as well be a "defect".
Of course having or not having the gene just means we have or do not have the gene, and in the study, was not referred to as a defect, just a difference. Additionally, the study correlated evidence that having been popular in high school was a contributing factor to liberalism. Thus by inference, would being unpopular in high school cause one to more likely be conservative? Does that mean popular kids in high school have birth defects, and that the unpopular kids are
superior, as Rush et al purport?
I read that Hitler said that if there were no Jews, he would have had to invent them or some such scapegoat to ascend in political power.
As a free and open society, we need to be vigilant against such inventions.
